Since its introduction in 1963, the Z06 badge has represented cutting-edge automotive performance — a characteristic that’s very much carried over to the latest Corvette model range. And two years after debuting the first mid-engined Stingray, Chevy has returned to the drawing board, tweaking the design of the car to deliver higher levels of performance, craftsmanship, and personalization options in the form of the 2023 Corvette Z06 range.
Taking lessons from Corvette Racing’s C8.R IMSA race car, the 2023 Z06 has been treated to a facelift that includes wider sculpted front and rear fascia designs and a stance that’s been stretched by 3.6″, allowing for the fitting of wider 345-series rear tires, as well as better airflow redirection. The American-made supercar also gets an up-specced suspension and brakes package with Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 and bigger six-piston calipers, plus a reconfigurable rear spoiler with adjustable wickerbill elements, 20″ and 21″ forged aluminum “spider” wheels, and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The preceding options are all standard, though Chevy is also offering optional upgrades in the form of carbon fiber wheels and the new Z07 performance package which boasts Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes and an aero kit that generates 734lbs of downforce at 186mph — the most on any Corvette ever. The most noteworthy aspect of the 2023 model, however, is undoubtedly its powertrain. Putting down 670hp and 460ft-lbs of torque, the Z06’s “LT6” 5.5L DOHC V8 Direct Injection engine stands as the most potent naturally-aspirated V8 ever to appear on a production model.
Meticulously constructed at the American automaker’s Bowling Green facility in Kentucky, the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is slated to enter production in the summer of 2022. Slightly more expensive than the prior model year, the 2023 version will start at $60,900, and go up from there depending on trim level and options.
