It’s no secret that automakers all over the world are pouring their collective resources into the full-scale electrification of their automobiles. We’re truly in the midst of a new automotive revolution. Not even a decade ago, the idea of fully electric trucks seemed completely foreign, yet we are now witnessing an ever-changing era where titanic auto companies like Ford, Toyota, and Chevy are making EV versions of their iconic pickups. Now, GMC is throwing down the gauntlet with the reveal of its electric Sierra Denali.

The Detroit-based automaker announced today that it will be expanding its EV line-up with the inclusion of an all-electric version of its iconic pickup truck, the Sierra. GMC’s all-electric Sierra will be available exclusively in the Denali trim and is now the third — but, importantly, most mainstream — all-electric truck in GMC’s portfolio behind the GMC HUMMER EV Pickup and the GMC HUMMER EV SUV. Being a teaser, we only got a glimpse of the front of the all-electric Sierra Denali from a video announcement that GMC posted in a press release. Given the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it nature of teaser videos, we only see the all-electric Sierra Denali for a few seconds, but its front end offers a sleek, contemporary design featuring a futuristic light signature and an illuminated GMC logo on the shield of the front grille. Its minimalist grille design is framed perfectly by the LED headlights on the outside. Like the GMC HUMMER EV, the all-electric Sierra Denali will be built on the Ultium Platform and will be assembled in General Motors’ Factory ZERO Assembly Plant in Detroit and Hamtramck, Michigan.

The fact that GMC is making its all-electric Sierra exclusive to the Denali trim shows a shift toward the automaker’s strategy of leaning into its more premium offerings. GMC has yet to release any further information on its all-electric Sierra Denali, however, the automaker plans on fully revealing it next year.
