Woodford Reserve Rye Whiskey

When it comes to good bourbons, there are few distilleries out there that rival Woodford Reserve. Regardless of price point, the official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby is hard to beat. This year the company looks to add another staple to their small lineup in the Woodford Reserve Rye Whiskey.

Alongside the standard Woodford Distiller’s Select and the Double Oaked, this Rye creation will be only the third permanent offering from the brand. Staying true to their commitment to flavor, releasing a Rye gives Woodford a chance to give back to their bourbon drinking fans. Toting a balanced and refreshingly subtle flavor palette, Woodford’s newest addition uses a base that’s 53 percent rye. The rich honey colored spirit gives off a spicy aroma with notes of rye, black pepper, cedar and cassia bark with hints of fruit like pear, apple and even almond. The flavor is a mix of clove, rye, mint and honey fused with both apple and malt for a long and sweetly spiced finish. It still comes packaged in that instantly recognizable bottle with subtle green accents to help it stand out on shelves throughout bars and spirit stores. Each bottle is 45.2% ABV, and sells for $38.
