You can tell a lot from your urine. From kidney issues to hydration to energy metabolism, the biomarkers from your pee are useful and easy to detect, even if they’re a nuisance to gather yourself. Nobody enjoys the process of interrupting your stream to collect a sample into a small cup. Well, now there’s an easier way.

Introducing U-Scan from Withings, a device that’s attached to the inside of your toilet bowl for frequent and precise urinary analysis. Now you’re able to monitor things such as how much water you need to be drinking and which nutrients you need to consume more of. For women, U-Scan can track pH levels and menstrual cycles as well. Thorough and complete, the information is then delivered to your smartphone app where you can log and track your own data.

Lasting up to 3 months per cartridge, the U-Scan also makes it possible to track the trends of your biometrics. After all, the average person only gives in-person urine samples once a year or less. Additionally, the system can recognize different users thanks to the Stream ID feature and also gets cleaned every time you flush.

Currently awaiting FDA clearance in the United States, U-Scan will be available in Europe in a few months for €500 (~$531).
