Winkler Knives II WK005 Combat Axe

Winkler Knives II founder, Daniel Winkler, has an impressive resume, to say the least. Not only has he supplied tomahawks for use in films (most notably, The Last of the Mohicans), but he also supplied real functional chopping tools to Seal Team 6. But you don’t have to be an elite warrior or movie star to get your hands on the WK005 Hammer/Combat Axe.

Put simply: this hatchet is completely badass. Made from 80CRV2 high carbon steel, this thing is designed to be taken to task over and over again and come out the other side smiling. That steel is mated to a sturdy maple wood handle, giving it a bit of refinement, with a glass-breaker tip. And the whole thing is finished off with a paracord wrap, adding just the right touch of tactical to the whole package. But this kind of mastery will cost you – $500 a piece, to be exact. Still, it’s hard not to think it’s worth every penny.

Purchase: $500
