As we’re discovering more and more as time goes on, a gas-free future does not mean a speed-free future. Electric motorcycles and cars are regularly breaking unthinkable speed records, and now a new prototype bike out of the UK is aiming to become the world’s fastest.

White Motorcycle Concepts has unveiled their WMC250EV prototype, a bike that they say is the world’s most aerodynamic. The prototype is capable of speeds over 250 mph, thanks in part to three revolutionary technologies. First and foremost is the V-Air system that incorporates a large duct at the center of the bike which forces air through the vehicle, rather than around it, resulting in a 70% reduction in aerodynamic resistance. The second innovation is a D-Drive motor unit powering the front wheel, which is able to harness regenerative braking energy — something unheard of in a conventional two-wheel motorcycle. Lastly is the unique F-Drive final drive system that boosts power and enhances efficiency. WMC’s founder and CEO Rob White will ride the bike himself in an attempt to break the Electric Semi Streamliner World Record for speed in July 2022.
