Back in 2017, WhistlePig launched its FarmStock Rye as the realization of its efforts to become a bonafide farm-to-bottle operation. The first whiskey to feature their Vermont-grown rye and be aged in white oak barrels, it paved the way for future annual estate releases.
For the fifth FarmStock installment, WhistlePig has decided to go about things a bit differently. Dubbed ‘Beyond Bonded,’ it’s an expression that’ll be auctioned off as a single barrel presented in 200 glass bottles. And it’s not without good reason — as the first-ever whiskey to be made using 100% Estate distillate, it marks an important milestone in WhistlePig’s transition from sourced rye to in-house production. What’s more, because it’s both single-barrel as well as bottled-in-bond, it was first made by one distiller and then aged for some 4 years, 8 months, and 14 days in a specialized warehouse where it was corked at 100.1 proof. As part of the auction, the winner will also receive the empty barrel for display and an all-expense-paid trip to the Shoreham Farm. But the best part is that 100% of the proceeds will go towards Farm Aid in support of American agriculture. Click the link below for more.
