In collaboration with Bob’s Watches, Sotheby’s has curated a group of driving timepieces that are inspired by some of the most jaw-dropping vehicles ever. Dubbed Watches Online: The Driver’s Collection, the lineup features incredible wristwatches, including several rare Rolexes.
The lineup of 18 stunning watches includes 14 Rolexes, two Omega timepieces, one Patek Philippe model, and one HEUER chronograph. However, the star of the show is undoubtedly the 1958 Rolex Submariner Ref. 6538 with a Tropical Brown dial. It’s known as the James Bond Submariner, as it appeared on Sean Connery’s wrist in the 1962 movie Dr. No. This particular Rolex Submariner 6538 watch is especially rare thanks to a 4-Line dial and a chronometer certification. The 007 watch features slight crazing and minimal signs of aging, but all of the luminous hour markers are intact. Bidding for these watches will start on August 14, and their car counterparts will hit the auction block from August 15-17, including an original James Bond Aston Martin DB5.
