VolleBak Solar Charged Jacket
VolleBak, the kings of way-too-technically-advanced gear, have done it again. They’ve made something you never in a million years thought you would need, but now have to have. Introducing the Solar Charged Jacket.
During the day, this jacket looks like any other lightweight windbreaker – a slate-grey version of Patagonia’s Houdini or Arc’Teryx Incendo hoody. Come nightfall, however, the ultra-thin and packable jacket lights up like kryptonite. This is because embedded in the jacket’s waterproof membrane is a phosphorescent compound that absorbs light throughout the day and then releases it in the dark. Any kind of light can charge this jacket, whether from your iPhone flashlight or the sun. All it takes is a few hours of exposure to light and the jacket will glow for up to 12. And thanks to the location of the membrane, this glowing material won’t rub off or diminish. All things said, this jacket is ideal for late night or early morning runners, cyclists, or climbers.
