Vollebak Blue Morpho Jacket
Vollebak is to the technical clothing world what Skunk Works is to the aeronautics industry. The small London-based team is constantly releasing cutting-edge products that seem as much science experiments as they do functional pieces of gear. Their newest release, the Blue Morpho Jacket, continues that trend.
Inspired by the iridescent wings of the Blue Morpho butterfly, this jacket uses billions (yes, billions) of microscopic glass spheres embedded in a resin on the jacket to reflect light like a mirror. As a result, wearers are made highly visible even from a distance – ideal for skiing or snowboarding during short, dark winter days. More than just boasting an impressive new technology, these jackets are designed to be useful and comfortable to wear. They’re seam-sealed and waterproof, feature an adjustable ocean-racing style hood and super high collar, and have high quality YKK waterproof zippers down the front and along the pockets and ventilating zippers. What will they think of next?
