Fans of the Golf will instantly recognize the R 400 concept. The brand first unveiled the 2-door back at the Beijing Auto Show earlier in the year, but now the Volkswagen Golf R 400 Concept makes it official debut in North America.

This week’s Los Angeles Auto Show is sure to bring plenty of concept vehicles with it, and this is one of them. The R 400 (referring to the vehicle’s 400 PS power output) pumps out 394-horsepower through the 2.0-liter TSI engine. This setup helps the car sprint from zero to 62 miles per hour in just 3.9 seconds, and will top out at 173 mph. This model weighs in at 3,130 pounds, and is equipped with a lightweight dual-clutch gearbox and all-wheel drive system for maximum traction in any weather condition. There has only been one color revealed thus far, and it’s sporting this “Silver Flake” paint job paired with a glossy black roof and several carbon fiber accents throughout. Rumor has it the Golf R 400 will be hitting dealers sometime next year.
