It is obvious to anyone that indoor pools, or pools more generally, belong in the ground. LAAV Architects, however, don’t traffic in the obvious or the commonplace. They deal with the fantastic, which is exactly what their Villa Clessidra concept is.
This square, three story home set in a pine forest in the Netherlands is made up of a combination of glass, steel and concrete. The home’s garage on the first floor opens up into a living area with large floor-to-ceiling windows, a well stocked library, and a glass ceiling through which you can see the second story pool. While swimming around in this large second story glass bottomed pool, residents can get a clear view of the surrounding forest through the large windows. On nicer days they can even open the windows all the way up to allow in a nice cool breeze. As night rolls through, swimmers can work their way up the stairs to retire in the third floor master bedroom. Our only question at this point is where do we sign up?
