The Upstand: Alternative Bike Kickstand

Dec 4, 2019

Category: Gear

Kickstarter continues to birth some of the most useful gadgets on the planet. Specifically the crowd funding site has allowed cyclists the opportunity to create a ton of niche products that otherwise would have never seen the light of day. The Upstand is just.

Designed by North Carolina based engineer Garrett Blake, this ingenious device lets you add a lightweight kickstand to any bicycle. The 2-piece system is quite simple to use. All you have to do is install the metal tab onto the rear axle of your bike, and then slide the removable kickstand into place. An audible click lets you know it’s in place, and ultra strong axial magnets keep it secure. Made from carbon fiber and aluminum, there are 3 different size Upstands available, all built to take beating. Thanks to the lightweight construction materials used, this thing will not slow down. When you’re not using the kickstand, it folds up and stows away. Support the project on Kickstarter.
