Norwegian Rain, maker of some of the world’s best raincoats, marked their tenth anniversary in 2020. So to celebrate, they’ve teamed up with Italian watchmaker Unimatic on a unique dive watch that signifies the unending power of both time and the weather.
The Unimatic x Norwegian Rain U1-NR and U1-NRN are a pair of dive watches with first-of-its-kind dial construction. The watches possess a dial that’s made up of two layers of copper. The top layer consists of oxidized solid copper that has been weathered to a green hue. Cutouts at the hour markers reveal the dial’s bottom layer of bright brushed copper, making for a striking contrast between the same material at different ages. The dials here are certainly the standout, but the made-in-Italy watches also boast moderate 40mm case sizes, 300m of water resistance, sapphire crystals, a Seiko automatic movement, and minimalist black bezels. Available in brushed stainless steel on a bracelet or black DLC-coated stainless steel on a nato strap, both the U1-NR and U1-NRN are priced at $985.
