Unimatic & Nigel Cabourn Partner On A Trans-Antarctic-Inspired Watch

Unimatic is knowns far and wide for its minimalistic, but fashionable watches. The U2-C, for example, has made its mark on the wristwear industry as one of the most affordable models for those who seek to strike the perfect balance between utilitarianism and stylish application. To give the military-inspired watch yet another update for the new year, the Italian outfit has partnered with the prolific British designer, Nigel Cabourn, for the expeditionary U2-NC.

The U2-NC pulls many of its recognizable design characteristics from the original U2-C but introduces a bevy of handsome visual upgrades to its silhouette, courtesy of Cabourn. On its exterior, an eye-catching two-piece safety orange fabric strap and Stonewashed Cerakote coating give the watch an aura of unprecedented heritage appeal, while Super-LumiNova Cream Old Radium hands and indices, an automatic Seiko NH35A movement, and a double-domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal keep the watch performing its best. At its back, the U2-NC pays homage to the 1955-1958 Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition — the first successful overland crossing to Antarctica — with a stylized blueprint of the cold, snow-covered continent. Only 150 examples are slated for production, so head over to Nigel Cabourn (or Unimatic’s) website to procure one of your own.
