Under Armour has always wanted its consumers to achieve their goals, whether they’re lifting, recovery, or fitness-related. The brand’s revered Phantom sneaker, for example, was created to augment enthusiasts’ well-formulated workout regimens, while still providing them with a perfect, specialized shoe for longer cardio sessions. Now, Under Armour has revealed the next generation of the shoe — the improved and enhanced UA HOVR Phantom 2.
The original Phantom runner wasn’t necessarily broken, so, instead of revising the shoe’s overall structure and composition, Under Armour’s engineers took to the drawing board, creating enhanced performance qualities through the use of elaborate implementation. To do so, the Phantom 2 takes on a suite of improvements centered around traction, flexibility, and cushioning. A specially-engineered compression mesh Energy Web complements the runner’s flat-knit upper, taking on additional zonal stretch and support for a true, sock-like feel. Below, a full rubber outsole and improved external heel counter provide adequate support catered toward shorter distances, providing runners with 360-degree comfort, ventilation, and responsiveness. Pair that with UA’s MapMyRun connectivity — which helps to track, optimize, and teach better running habits — and you’ve got a winning formula for the Phantom line’s up-and-coming model. Head to UA’s website to grab a pair for $150.
