The more traction, the better. Any wintertime hiker can attest to that fact. Icy, wet, and snowy trails can not only ruin a day – but they can put a hiker out for an entire season with a bad injury. Thankfully there is tough, winter-ready gear out there like Under Armour’s Fat Tire Govie SE Boot.

This unique-looking hiker from the Baltimore-based athletic wear brand boasts a big, fat Michelin outsole that fights to maintain grip at all times. Need to trudge through water? Not an issue. These boots have a synthetic upper paired with a GTX lining that renders it totally waterproof. The innovation doesn’t stop there. This boot also boasts a unique lacing system called ‘Boa’. This setup uses a special dial and stainless steel laces that loosen and tighten quickly even in cold and wet conditions. If the super tough lacing system kinks or breaks? Under Amour will fix it for free. Winter trails won’t know what hit them.
