Few 21st century watchmakers have gotten our attention like MING. The Malaysian microbrand has wowed enthusiasts with how much freshness they’ve brought to the horological arena, and without needing to reinvent the wheel. Even when MING has implemented new features — like their first-ever white-glowing lume or 3D-printed titanium polymesh strap — they’ve managed to do so while staying within their specific design language.
While MING has produced dive watches and GMTs in some respects for a few years now, the new release of the 37.11 Odyssey is the first time these features have been combined. Let’s take a look…

Building on Award-Winning DNA
Adding a GMT hand to the mix, the 37.11 Odyssey inherits its case architecture from the 37.09 Bluefin, which took home the GPHG Sports Watch prize last year. But the Odyssey trades the Bluefin’s stainless steel for brushed Grade 2 titanium, resulting in a watch that should barely registers on your wrist at under 42g (~1.5oz). At 38mm across and 12.6mm thick, with a 44.5mm lug-to-lug, the watch has solid proportions as well.
The dual-crown setup from previous 37-series models returns here, but with a twist. The lower crown at 4 o’clock rotates the entire sapphire dial bidirectionally — all 24 clicks of it — to adjust the internal 24-hour bezel. It’s more tactile and completely usable underwater. The upper crown at 2 o’clock handles time-setting and features a red warning ring that shows when it’s unscrewed.

A Dial That Works Day and Night
MING’s smoked sapphire dial creates that signature “inversion” effect the brand does better than anyone else. Viewed straight on, it’s mostly opaque, but catch the light right and the Sellita SW330.M2 caller-style GMT automatic movement beneath reveals itself. The 24-hour track uses color-coded Super-LumiNova X1 — orange for nighttime hours (5-19), blue for daytime (7-17), and white for the cardinal markers. The gradient-lumed hands are new for MING, fading from white tips to black bases, while the GMT hand features what can only be described as a tiny starship at its tip.
Then there’s MING’s Polar White lume on the hour indices. This proprietary material glows white instead of green, creating an ethereal effect that stands apart from everything else on the market. Combined with the orange and blue elements, the Odyssey will put on quite a light show in the dark.

Three Strap Options
MING offers the Odyssey on their slate-gray FKM rubber strap with titanium tuck buckle, the Grade 2 titanium Universal Bracelet, or the new 3D-printed Grade 5 titanium Polymesh that debuted a few weeks back. The rubber is perfect for daily wear or actual diving, while the Universal Bracelet and Polymesh give this some added luxury for dressed-up occasions.
