Ultimate Ears Announces An IPX4-Rated Bass-Boosted Bluetooth Speaker

Founded in 1995 by Van Halen’s former touring audio engineer, Ultimate Ears originally produced top-shelf, bespoke in-ear monitors for rockstars prior to expanding into the greater speaker and headphone market. And, while the California-based business now produces audio products on a much grander scale, the company maintains its dedication to churning out offerings with exacting audio standards, as evidenced by Ultimate Ears’ latest release: the HYPERBOOM Standalone Speaker.

The new wireless flagship smart speaker features Bluetooth (4.2-5.0) compatibility with a 150’ range and is able to be paired with up to 8 devices. Built to keep the party going, the 13lb speaker packs a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery that affords up to 24 hours of life and is IPX4-rated for water resistance. Building off its predecessor, the MEGABOOM 3, the HYPERBOOM offers four-times the sound intensity and six-times the bass of the outgoing model. The portable Bluetooth speaker also boasts an adaptive equalizer feature that can detect the acoustics of its surroundings and adjust itself accordingly in a bid to deliver optimized sound at all times. A dedicated app also allows the speaker to be controlled from a smartphone. Offered with a two-year limited hardware warranty, the HYPERBOOM is currently available for preorder (prior to its March 2, 2020 shipping date) for $399.
