“Why the hell not?” That was Chis Canterbury and partner Rebecca’s attitude when they set out to build a bike for the Portland One Moto Show. Chris, owner and founder of the Northern Californian based custom bike shop Boxer Metal had just finished out a build and shipped it off when he decided he wanted to really stir things up at the Oregon motorcycle show. In just seven weeks they managed to completely rebuild a BMW R100, throwing two turbos onto its engine to boot.
The donated bike was totally stripped down and rebuilt for a unique look and ride. The frame was strengthened to make sure it could sustain the force of the engine, and the fender and seat pan were made from scratch in-house at Boxer Metal. The 980cc motor on this beast is powered with a fuel injection system, saddled with two Speed Daddy T3 turbos, and attached to a fully customized exhaust that gives the bike some bark.
