TUMI made waves in 2016 when the brand launched their first aluminum suitcase with the 19 Degree line. With premium materials and a beautiful fluid-like flowing design, the series quickly became one of the luxury travel brand’s signature offerings. And now TUMI is expanding the 19 Degree line with greater sustainability in mind.
TUMI’s 19 Degree expansion eschews aluminum in favor of recycled polycarbonate. The new suitcase’s shells have all of the lightweight and flexible durability for which polycarbonate is known, with the added benefit of being made from over 90% recycled materials. They also come with other added benefits not found in the aluminum 19 Degree line, namely PROTX2 antimicrobial coating on the lining to help prevent the growth of bacteria and fight odor, along with an additional antimicrobial treatment applied to the shell, zippers, and handle for an added layer of protection. The line’s Continental and Worldwide Carry-Ons even feature built-in USB chargers for powering up your mobile device on the go. In total, the recycled 19 Degree line includes the two aforementioned carry-ons, a trunk, a compact brief, and three sizes of packing cases. They’re available now from TUMI, with pricing from $495.
