When you think sports car, you tend to think of a few things: fast; nimble; girl getter. You don’t really think diesel engines. But Trident plans to change that with what it’s calling “the world’s fastest and most fuel efficient diesel sports car.” This is the Iceni.

Eight years in the making, the Trident Iceni features a 6.6-liter turbocharged V8 connected to a six-speed automatic transmission. Trident says that adds up to 395 horsepower and a stunning 700 pound-feet of torque. 0 to 60 happens in just 3.7 seconds, and the Iceni reportedly reaches a top speed of over 190 mph. Despite that muscle, Trident says the cruising range with the Iceni will be some 2,000 miles. The ample curves of the classic British sports car styling look great, and for another $19k you can opt for the Performance Pack that increases the output to 430 hp and a truly insane 950 lb-ft of torque.
