If there’s anything HBO’s tech-lampooning Silicon Valley gets right, it’s the unique and often ridiculous intersection between money, merchandise, and the people at the top controlling it all. And one of the most exaggerated examples of this comes in the form of fictional billionaire Russ Hanneman who, after being devastated by dipping below the $1B mark, founds an aptly-named tequila brand to “re-billionize” his bank account. Here’s the kicker, though: Tres Comas Añejo Tequila is actually real now.
As tongue-in-cheek as Russ Hanneman and his tequila are, the real-world version of his agave spirit actually looks promising. Produced by Diageo — the same conglomerate responsible for Crown Royal, Ketel One, and Guinness (amongst others) — the tequila is made from 100% Blue Weber Agave that has been aged in American Oak barrels for over a year and boasts notes of vanilla and spice with an oaky finish. The once-fictional brand has also even included serving suggestions, noting that the beverage can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in a “Billionaire’s Margarita” — which is a regular margarita with Tres Comas tequila. Pick up a bottle while you can for $49.
