This Hybrid Utility Blade Turns Into A Scraper With The Flick Of A Switch

Though they’ve existed for well over a century, aside from a few material updates, the design of sliding utility knives has largely remained the same. However, American tool outfit ToughBuilt Industries Inc. is now changing that reality with the introduction of its all-new “Scraper Utility Knife.”

This retractable utility knife features a standard 2.2” steel blade for traditional cutting applications, though what sets it apart from other similar-looking items is the fact it boasts a patented switch mechanism that enables the blade to pivot 90-degrees, allowing it to be used as a scraper with just a simple flick of one’s thumb. This clever mechanism is built into a 6” metal and triple injected plastic handle that’s supplemented via rubber comfort grips and a raised thumb guard. What’s more, this patented configuration also packs a rapid load blade changing system. In addition to being sold with an included five-pack of utility blades, this hybrid-style handtool is also equipped with an integrated paint can opener/pry-bar and a lanyard loop. Backed by a lifetime warranty, the ToughBuilt Scraper Utility Knife is available now, with pricing set at $18.
