When the president of a lauded EDC brand steps in to personally design a new product, you can bet there’s a good deal of attachment to the item. In this case, Leo Espinoza of TOPS Knives wanted to create something fun that harkens back to his childhood and the childhood of his customers. And, as members of the latter group, we think he succeeded with the new TOPS Knives Slingshot.
A simple and classic piece of gear, slingshots are suitable for hunting small game in survival situations – but, as Leo remembers, were more often just for fun. With this one, he wanted to pay homage to the enjoyment he got from the slingshots he had growing up, but do so in a more refined format. To achieve that, TOPS has crafted this slingshot out of tumble finished 1095 steel and mated it to black canvas Micarta handle scales. It also has a sturdy and thick rubber band that will survive through thousands of uses. And the whole thing measures up at 6.25 inches in length and 6.7 ounces. Plus, once you’re done with it, you can stash it in the included brown leather belt loop sheath. You can get your hands on one of these classic shooters right now for $100.
