For many, an utterance of the words “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater” can result in an intense, mind-numbing nostalgia. Not only did the 1999 Playstation release redefine the world of action sports in the virtual realm, but it also served as an undeniable catalyst, catapulting the pastime into an echelon of popularity never before seen. Now, fans of the franchise will be delighted to hear that the first and second games will be returning this year in the form of a 1+2 Remastered series.
Following in the footsteps of the recently remastered Spyro and Crash Bandicoot, Vicarious Visions’ contemporary reinterpretation of the fabled skating IP is sure to be a hit among new and old fans, alike. Virtually all of the game’s original systems will be reimplemented and ported over for current-gen systems, including iconic levels like the Hoffman Factory, Mall, Burnside, and Streets. That also means that the original soundtrack will, once again, serve as a perfect backdrop for all of your grind, flip, and manual combos. If you’re into online socialization, you’ll be able to skate with friends via the game’s traditional split-screen and multiplayer modes, as well as utilize Create-A-Park and Create-A-Skater modes for eventual online sharing. Check out the remaster’s improved HDR lighting and 4K resolution in the trailer above.
