TOMCAR Debuts Civilian Version Of Its Israeli Defense Forces ATV

Fresh on the heels of their recently-released TX model ATV, The Phoenix-based company, TOMCAR is now offering its latest go-anywhere military side-by-side to the general public for the first time. Originally developed for the Israeli Defense Forces, the new civilianized version, dubbed the TX4, retains the rugged runner’s hardwearing chassis, suspension, and engine platform, while boasting a few tweaks and updates to bolster overall comfort.

At the heart of the fortified 4WDer is a fuel-injected 1.5L, 16V, inline-four engine married to a CVT (automatic) transmission and featuring selectable front and rear pneumatic locking differentials. The liquid-cooled four-banger makes 107hp (at 6,000rpm), 80ft-lb of torque (at 3,000rpm), and affords the TX4 a 2,500lb payload capacity and a towing capability rated at 2.5-tons. The undercarriage is lined with a full aluminum skid-plate, should the TX4 exhaust its 17-inch ground clearance and its (independent) coil-over shocks’ 14-inches of travel. Other standard fare on the civilian-spec TOMCAR consist of PRP seats with four-point harnesses, a widened cabin, custom TOMCAR steering wheel with electronically-assisted power-steering, heating and AC, an integrated 5-ton tow-hitch, projector LED headlights, and full roll cage. Engineered to withstand airdrops, the 2,650lb TX4 offers military-grade ATV performance and strength to the general public. The 2020 TOMCAR TX4 carries an MSRP of $36,500.
