Tom Sachs Nike Mars Yard Overshoe

Winter can be rough on our feet, especially when it comes to the later months when the melting snow begins to create a cold and unforgiving slush. Unfortunately, most footwear (especially sneakers) is designed for either cold and dry or wet and (relatively) warm, with very little in-between. But that’s exactly why Nike and Tom Sachs partnered up to create the Mars Yard Overshoe.

Styled almost like a pair of snowboarding boots, these sneakers were designed specifically for the end of winter. That means they are completely waterproof — courtesy of a construction of nylon-reinforced Dyneema — but also remarkably lightweight. Furthermore, they boast an extra-grippy specially-designed rubber outsole with a wraparound toe and heel for additional waterproofing, a TPU midsole, and specialty Fidlock magnetic buckles for extra security. Warm enough for a sunrise trek through Manhattan in February, but comfortable to the point that you might forget you have them on, these unique sneaker-boots will be available on October 11th. Pricing has not been released.
