It’s not that we don’t love living in the city, but sometimes we’d like the opportunity to get away from it all. You know settle down in a mountainous landscape, but without doing away with the modern design elements that come with our urban dwelling. The aptly titled Pierre house proves that you can definitely leave the hustle and bustle behind, while still retaining the bachelor pad.
The Pierre (which is French for stone) is an industrial modern residence that was designed by the team at Olson Kundig Architects, and is built right into a rock on the beautiful San Juan Islands in Washington. The house is constructed from concrete, has been equipped with a sustainable green roof, and thanks to the surrounding foliage and recessed building design, truly blends with nature. And the views of the Pacific Northwest – some of the best in the world.
