The North Face is a staple in outdoor culture, and after years of growth, success, and philanthropy, the company has secured its position as one of the most influential brands of all time. Now, they’ve decided to revisit one of their favorite locations to celebrate something that’s undeniably unique — the first-ever traversal of the Antarctic via dogsled.
Back in 1990, six members of the International Trans-Antarctica Expedition took to the snowy landscape to cover more than 3,700 miles; and, after completing the gargantuan trial in just 220 days, the achievement was reigned in as one of humanity’s finest endeavors. To honor the amazing feat, The North Face has revealed the “THINK SOUTH FOR THE NEXT” collection, which features everything from a Trans Antarctica Parka 70D GORE-TEX 2L, to a recycled microfleece Trans Antarctica Fleece Jacket and t-shirt adorned in photos, and flags, to demarcate the participants’ nationalities. Each garment is comprised of environmentally-sound materials and boasts technical fabrics like a water-repellent nylon shell, heat-capturing microfleece, and dual-layer GORE-TEX. Look for the collection through The North Face’s Japanese supplier, Goldwin, in November.
