Following an industry-wide push toward sustainable manufacturing practices, a handful of prolific companies have made a conscious effort to reimagine, repurpose, and reevaluate their approach when it comes to modern outerwear. As one of the market’s most influential leaders, The North Face has embraced this transition wholeheartedly — proven further by the company’s ambitious Eco Heritage Collection.

The Eco Heritage Collection is an exercise in classic recreation, calling upon three of the brand’s most iconic silhouettes — the Nuptse Vest, Nuptse Jacket, and Mountain Jacket — to foster its transition toward a more sustainable future. Each variant brandishes the company’s Eco label, demarcating its introduction into The North Face’s portfolio as a flagship garment. The Nuptse Jacket and Vest retain the same aesthetic as their predecessors, but now, they’re comprised of 100% recycled fabrics, 600-fill ethically-sourced and recycled goose down, and ripstop polyester for a durable finish. The Mountain Jacket arrives in the company’s fabled heritage colorways and utilizes a recycled polyester construction, DWR treatment, and two-layer DryVent fabric for adequate waterproofing. Better yet, each garment adheres to the strict guidelines set forth by the brand regarding Responsible Down Standard (RDS) and ethical production. The North Face Eco Heritage Collection is available now via REI’s website and starts at $180.
