The Lebowski Cycle: Art Inspired By The Big Lebowksi
We’ve seen coasters, rugs, sweaters, and pinball machines, all paying homage to The Big Lebowski. Now, here’s something much simpler, but no less impressive: art.
Joe Forkan may be classically trained, but that certainly didn’t stop him from using his talents to celebrate one of the all-time great cult classic comedies. The Lebowski Cycle is a series of paintings and drawings that seek to “explore layered narratives, using masterpieces of western art and the Coen Brothers’ film as a starting point.” It’s been a true labor of love for Forkan, as he started the project in 2006 and has incorporated themes and titles from such masters as Caravaggio, Friedrich, Carracci, and Velazquez. He’s selling prints of all 14 of his pieces, so if you’d like something new for your cave, the Dude would probably abide. [Purchase]
