The James Brand Swell Knife
The James Brand is responsible for making two of our favorite everyday carry knives – their old-school style slipjoint, The County, and their sleek and modern folder, The Chapter. They are vastly different in their designs, but each represents the upper echelon in regards to the quality of craftsmanship we’ve come to expect. Well, the latter just got a few notable tweaks in collaboration with Discommon Goods in a limited run called The Swell Edition.
As an homage to both design teams’ collective love of all things surf related, this variation on The James Brand Chapter Knife sports many of the same excellent features as its siblings – a D2 2.33″ blade, 416 stainless steel hardware, and a colorful thumb stud – but it also has a notably distinct handle. Crafted from 6AL4V titanium and aerospace grade 6061 anodized aluminum, the rippled pattern is meant to elicit the impression of an oncoming wave (hence the “Swell” in the name). This sleek and ergonomic knife – which retails for $380 – is made, like all James Brand knives, here in the USA.
