A Complete 40,000+ Issue Collection Of DC Comics Is Headed To Auction

For the better part of a century, DC Comics has stood as a monument to visual storytelling and has produced some of the most iconic characters of all time — and that all started with, you guessed it, their comic books. Now, an absurdly comprehensive collection of over 40,000 issues of these beloved comics is headed to the Sotheby’s auction block.

The impressive collection, according to the auction page, is a complete set of every single DC Comics (and its subsidiaries) issue published from 1934 to 2014. For reference, that includes rarities like the first appearance of Batman in Detective Comics #27, the first appearance of Superman in Action Comics #1, the first appearance of Wonder Woman in Sensation Comics #1, and so much more. However, bin pickers will be disappointed to know that the collection is, in fact, being sold as a single, complete set. While there isn’t a set reserve or an expected price, it’s likely this unrivaled set of DC Comics issues will sell in the millions.
