Netflix Expands Its Horror Anthology Series With ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’

Over the last decade, Netflix has gone from a mail-in video rental service to one of Hollywood’s most prolific production studios, with an ever-increasingly library of top-notch content and Netflix Originals. And the latest project to be revealed by the Los Angeles-based streaming service is a reinterpretation of a 1989 horror novella dubbed The Haunting of Bly Manor.

A followup limited series to Netflix’s 2018 The Haunting of Hill House, the show stars Victoria Pedretti, Henry Thomas, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel, T’Nia Miller, Rahul Kohli, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Amelie Smith, and Amelia Eve. The story centers around a young au pair (aka a live-in nanny) that’s hired to look after the family’s children, though — after a short while — she begins taking notice of an increasing number of unsettling happenings. Created and partially written by Mike Flanigan — the force behind The Haunting of Hill House — this gothic romance is expected to boast much of the same dark themes and imagery as its series predecessor. All nine episodes of Netflix’s The Haunting of Bly Manor are scheduled to release at the same time on October 9.
