The Garage in Seattle, Washington
A garage can be a place for cars, tools, or junk. With the Garage in Seattle, we’re seeing how it can be much more.
Design studio Graypants is led by Seth Grizzle and Jon Junker, and this is their debut: an open, lakefront, multi-purpose space that clearly brings to mind that saying about stones and glass houses. The garage’s original materials were incorporated into the new design, while separately there’s reclaimed pine, a discarded basin, and a 100-year-old stove to keep the vintage theme going strong. The massive windows offer peaceful views from every nook and cranny, inspiring even the most jaded tech-head to whip out an actual book and unplug for a day or two.
