The Evolution Of Batman In Cinema
Even the hardest of hardcore Marvel fans would be hard-pressed to define this one simple truism: Batman is the greatest superhero of all time. Sure, there’s room for debate, with Superman and a few others in the running, but for more than 75 years, only the Dark Knight has managed to consistently maintain such a firm grip on the imaginations of millions worldwide.
Vimeo user Jacob T. Swinney knows the deal and has a nice job with this supercut of Batman’s big screen appearances over the years. We think the highlight of the montage comes right away with the rarely seen Batman serials from the 1940s. Then we go to the camp of the 1966 movie that led to the classic TV show, followed by Michael Keaton in 1989’s Batman and ‘92’s Batman Returns, the animated Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Val Kilmer in 1995’s Batman Forever, George Clooney in the atrocious Batman & Robin in ’97, and then Christopher Nolan’s excellent trilogy.
