The Balvenie Unveils A Highly-Coveted 21-Cask Speyside Single Malt Scotch

Founded in 1892, The Balvenie distillery definitely knows a thing or two about making fine single malt scotches. They’re also experts at combining their offerings together to create even more magnificent and unique blends. In fact, they’ve just released a new masterful expression, the Tun 1509 Batch 6 Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

This truly singular release is made up of 21 different casks — five sherry butt, seven “DoubleWood” sherry butt, and nine ex-bourbon American oak barrels. And all of them are married for three months in a single tun — the ideal environment and amount of time for them to all “knit” together perfectly. Created by David Stewart, a master blender with over 57 years of experience under his belt, the result is said to be complex — with notes of candied orange, honey, toffee, ginger oak, and more. An exceedingly rare and sought-after spirit, these bottles will be appropriately priced at $400 apiece.
