Tesla Roadster 3.0
Not content with zipping by 50 gas stations in your Tesla Roadster? Perhaps bypassing 100 of them will suit your eco needs.
The whiz kids at Tesla say they have made some significant advances with the battery pack for its all-electric Roadster, and those improvements in the Roadster 3.0 upgrade will yield a whopping range of 400 miles on a single charge. While the original battery churned out about 53 kWh, the new pack – still at the same size – produces 70 kWh. The upgrade will also include a retrofitable aerodynamic body kit to cut down on drag and new tires with 20 percent less rolling-resistance. Tesla will put this new tech to the test soon with a non-stop trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles, while Roadster owners will have to wait for the battery to pass safety certification tests before enjoying their newfound freedom.
