Elon Musk continues to show us why Tesla is more than just your average car company as the brand unveils a truly game changing product; the Tesla Powerwall home battery.

Powerwall is essentially a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can store solar energy as well as grid energy from non-peak hours to use during peak hours. This device has the ability to work with the traditional power grid along with residential solar systems. This could potentially eliminate the need for non-renewable energy. The device will be available in both a backup and daily use version, and measures just six inches thick by three feet across, easily fitting to any wall in your home or garage. The battery will be hitting the retail scene during the summer of 2015 with a price of $3,000, and will come with a 10-year warranty – meaning you don’t have to worry about replacing it anytime soon.
