This Black & Tan TAG Heuer Watch Celebrates 50 Years Of The Monaco

This year, TAG Heuer’s legendary Monaco watch turns a half-century old. And while Steve McQueen’s timepiece of choice has already seen several celebratory editions over the last few months, the latest offering — made in collaboration with The Hour Glass for their 40th anniversary — might be the best yet.

What you’ll likely notice first is the clean styling of this excellent timekeeper — done up in black PVD steel, a beige dial with red highlights, and a perforated black calfskin band (a reference to the watches racing heritage). But there’s also quite a bit going on that’s not immediately apparent, like its domed sapphire crystal, black gold-plated hands, and Calibre 11 automatic movement. Better still, flip this square timepiece over and you’ll find a beautiful exhibition caseback putting the complex movement on display. Only 50 of these watches are ever to be made at a price of $6,100 apiece, so act quickly.
