Tag Heuer Celebrates 50 Years Of The Monaco Watch With 1970s Style

Category: Style

Famously worn by Steve McQueen in his film, Le Mans, Tag Heuer’s Monaco chronograph watch is a timekeeping icon, to say the least. This year it turns 50, which is a major milestone by any measurement. To celebrate, the brand is releasing five special edition watches, each representing a decade of the wristwatch’s existence — the first being this 1970s throwback Tag Heuer Monaco Calibre 11.

Done up in a retro-inspired colorway — including a textured green Côtes de Genève dial, brown leather strap, and dual black gold-plated sunray sub-dials — this beautiful throwback edition is limited to just 169 examples in total. It also boasts a modern automatic movement, special engraving on the caseback (including a serial number), a brushed and polished steel case, and a sapphire crystal. An opulent and iconic racing-inspired timepiece, this 50th anniversary Tag Heuer Monaco chronograph watch will sell for $6,550.

Purchase: $6,550
