TAG Heuer is unequivocally one of the world’s most elite horological outfits, with a prestige only matched by the likes of brands like Rolex and Breitling. The company has a long history of noteworthy timepieces dating back to 1860, and with 2020 marking the Swiss brand’s 160th year in operation, TAG is taking time out to commemorate the occasion with a limited edition, modern reinterpretation of the company’s Heuer Dato 45 from 1965.
Standing out from the crowd upon its release thanks to the Dato 45’s inclusion of a date wheel at the 9 o’clock poison, this new rendition of the historic chronograph sees its date window relocated to the 12 o’clock position. Offered with a blue dial with white minute and hour chronograph counters or with a white dial with black counters, this new 160th anniversary Carrera features a fine brushed steel 44mm case, a fixed ceramic tachymeter bezel, and a sapphire case back encompassed by a stainless steel ring that denotes each specimen’s production number of the 1,860 unit run. Underneath the dial is TAG’s Calibre HEUER02 automatic movement with an 80-hour power reserve and a 100-meter water resistance rating. Priced at $5,950, the TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Anniversary Edition is available now.
