TAG Heuer has enjoyed a long and illustrious career within the world of premium watchmaking. After its establishment in St-Imier, Switzerland during the year 1860, the outfit, known then as Uhrenmanufaktur Heuer AG, spend numerous decades honing its craft. Over 160 years later, the brand has solidified its name within the annals of horology, with Jack Heuer, the great-grandson of its founder, as its honorary chairman.
For his 88th birthday, TAG has decided to honor Jack with a tastefully redesigned vintage Carrera. This unique, limited-edition example features the same 42mm case as its donor but opts for a finely-brushed 18K rose gold finish (said to represent Heuer’s favorite material), in lieu of its traditional steel construction. Within, an accurate in-house manufactured Heuer 02 movement and specialized oscillating mass make their debut, complementing the watch’s highly-legible face and “88” motif. At its rear, a text-adorned window beckons the question, “time never stops, why should we?” Only 188 examples are slated for production, with each elegant chronograph garnering an $18,450 asking price.
