Since its founding in 1982, Stone Island has placed itself at the forefront of functional fashion design. Between its experimental textile usage and its innovative clothing designs, the Italian-based brand consistently pushes the envelope in order to test just what exactly a garment is capable of being.
For its latest seasonal release, Stone Island has put together a series of pieces using something it’s calling ‘Reflective Grid on Lamy-TC.’ Available both as a lightweight military parka as well as a tarpaulin/cape, the capsule essentially combines a semitransparent hyper-light Lamy Nylon Tela fabric construction with an overlaid reflective print. In practice, this means that the material actively changes its appearance as it refracts light, going at once from otherwise understated outwear to piece with a brightly glowing grid print. And that’s not all — Stone Island has also treated each item with resin on the inner side for an added dose of wind-resistance and an anti-drop agent on the exterior for waterproofing.
