Steve McQueen’s Persol 714 Sunglasses

James Bond is to watches what Steve McQueen is to sunglasses. The petrol-obsessed actor helped establish Italian luxury eyewear brand Persol as one of the best in the world simply by wearing them. Now, thanks to GWS auctions, you could possibly own a pair of Steve McQueen’s personal Persol 714 sunglasses.

Featuring black acetate frames, brown lenses, and Persol’s famous foldable design, the vintage sunglasses are just by themselves a desirable pair of shades. Add in the fact that they were originally owned by ‘The King of Cool’ and have never once been put up for auction before? They’re practically irresistible. The sunglasses will come with an original case, and a letter of authenticity from a former employee of the seller’s estate – Dennis Roberts. The bidding has started at $500, though we expect to see it go much, much higher given that the last pair of McQueen’s shades sold for over $70,000 in 2006. Style this iconic doesn’t come cheap.

Purchase: $500+
