The Dark Side Surges In ‘Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker’ Trailer

The final chapter of the sci-fi fantasy saga that started in 1977 is finally coming to an end this Christmas. Selects fans at Disney’s D23 expo saw the new Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker trailer over the weekend, and now it’s up for your eyes to devour on repeat.

Initially, the trailer hits you with nostalgia — showing off a young Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and other fan favorites. And then we get into some new footage, including a shot of Rey and her crew, as well as an epic shot of a massive fleet of star destroyers hovering in space with pure menace. But the most interesting part in the whole trailer involves Rey in Darth mode unfolding what looks like a version of Darth Maul’s double lightsaber. Is it a product of some mysterious vision or is Rey truly engulfed by the dark side? Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until December 20 to find out.
