It’s still hard to believe that a new Star Wars film is just over a year away. As we countdown the days until the 2015 release, fans can expect many surprises and leaks along the way, and the unveiling of a new X-Wing Starfighter by J.J. Abrams today is just another one of those welcomed surprises.

J.J. Abrams released this video as the Star Wars Force for Change winds down to its last week, and lets fans know that Lucasfilm and Disney are still giving fans a chance to watch an advanced screening of the upcoming film in their hometown alongside 20 of their friends. The official Star Wars Twitter account has confirmed that this X-Wing Fighter did in fact draw inspiration from artist Ralph McQuarrie (the man responsible for this original trilogy artwork). Expect Star Wars: Episode VII to hit the big screen on December 18th, 2015.
