Star Wars Promotes STEM Education With USPS Droid Forever Stamps Series

Ever since it first hit the silver screen, there’s been an inextricable connection between the Star Wars universe and the real world of science here on Earth. In fact, the technology that appeared onscreen inspired scientists in multiple fields, including those developing prosthetics (and medicine in general), propulsion, renewable energies, and so much more. Now, Disney has teamed up with the USPS to honor Star Wars’ dedication to STEM learning with a series of droid-focused Forever Stamps.

For those not in the know, STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math — an area of focus for Star Wars: Force for Change and FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), a global education-focused nonprofit organization. Each of the 10 stamps in the collection features a different significant droid from the Star Wars universe, including fan favorites such as R2-D2, C-3P0, BB-8, and more obscure ‘bots like the 2-1B surgical droid from The Empire Strikes Back. Keep an eye out for this exclusive set the next time you need to buy postage this spring.
