A whole lot of weatherproofed sneakers have been hitting the streets recently. Everything from Chuck Taylor All-Stars to Nike’s 2016 line of Sneaker Boots, all ready to take on serious slush, rain, and snow. These Adidas Stan Smith Gore-Tex Shoes, however, take a slightly different approach.
Instead of trying to apply an over-the-top rugged look to the classic sneaker silhouette, the team at Adidas has kept the old-school look and colorway from the 1970s sneaker and simply lined the shoe with Gore-Tex for wet weather wear and added in an OrthoLite sockliner for support and to fight odor. The rest of the shoe – from the green heel tab, to the perforated stripes and throwback stamp of approval from tennis star Stan Smith himself – looks relatively unassuming. This makes this release from the sports apparel giant a great snag for the guy who is looking to get all the protection of a winterized sneaker without the look. Trudge through puddles without fear for $120. [Purchase]
